Fouls Cost Cajuns in Loss to North Texas

“I think mentally we were let down,” senior captain Meghan Crawford said of the loss. “We played so well against them the first half and then in the first couple of minutes of the second half they scored on us.”
The Mean Green added an insurance goal later in the second half, as Kelli Lunsford scored off of a deflection.
The Ragin' Cajuns could not counter the Mean Green attack despite a valiant effort. After playing
“I think after they got that second goal, it took a lot of wind out of our sails,” assistant coach Jen Gardner commented. “It opened up more opportunities for them.”
The loss overshadowed the performance of goalkeeper Stephanie Weston. She recorded five saves on the afternoon including a pair of acrobatic stops.
With her five saves, Weston moves into sole possession of second place in the Cajuns career saves list. She now has 146 for her career, passing Anne Corbello.
The Cajuns entered halftime in a scoreless tie with the Mean Green.
The two teams were nearly identical in the first half of play. Both teams were even with five shots apiece and the two teams made their shots count. NT took four shots on goal compared to three shots on goal by UL. Each team took only one corner kick in the half.
The loss drops UL to 0-8-0 all-time against the Mean Green and 0-4-0 against NT at home.
