Hey!

It never fails…I don't think during the fall season there has ever been a boring weekend where something hilarious doesn't happen.

Even though we lost on Friday night against University of Houston in the last eight seconds of overtime (literally…8-seconds) on our season opener in Houston, the bus ride home was something to talk about. Basically, for people who do not know this, it usually takes about 3.5 hours to get to Houston. Since our game didn't end until after 9:00 pm and we had yet to talk after the game, say hi to our fans, shower in the locker room, get everyone on the bus, and find somewhere to eat that is still open, we knew we were going to get back to Lafayette pretty late.

Well, by the time the team was on the bus we found out that there was a McDonald's close by. However, even though it was closed, the manager was nice enough to reopen for us; moreover, all the employees had stayed to help (even though their faces dropped when they saw about 30 people walk through the doors). Nonetheless, we were happy because we got to eat…well, except for one person…sorry Taylor!

After eating, everyone was back on the bus watching a movie or falling asleep for about 15 minutes. Then, we were wondering why the bus driver was pulling over to a gas station; it was then when the rest of the team noticed that one of the girls, Taylor, had thrown up on the bus. Come to find out, it was just something she had eaten earlier, but now she bears the nickname Taylor Yak instead of her real name Taylor Zak.

Anyway, when we get back to Lafayette about 3:45 in the morning, coach told us that before Sunday's game not to turn on any music to pump us up because he wants to try something different. Needless to say, when I walked in the locker room on Sunday morning, the first thing I noticed (as did the rest of the team) was the scent. There were about 20 incense sticks burning (okay there were 7) and the sounds of Finding Nemo was on. I have to admit, that method definitely calms you down more than rap music; although rap music pumps you up a little bit more that Nemo…It's close though.

Nevertheless, when it came down for game time, we were all ready to play. We ended up tying Southern Miss 2-2 in double overtime. Maybe the Nemo method does work…

Until next weekend…Geaux Cajuns!
