Brown's Victory in 1500m Paces Cajuns in Ruston

Thursday, April 13, 2006

LAFAYETTE– Sophomore Casey Brown captured the 1500m on Wednesday night at the Louisiana Tech Twighlight.

Brown, who also placed second in the 3000m, had the Cajuns top two performances.

The meet went in favor of the host-Techsters, as both Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns and Louisiana-Monroe were edged in several close races.

The Cajuns Jasmine Collins was overtaken in the 800m by just .29 seconds over Tech's Tenisha Mays.

On the men's side, Jason Chery finished third in a tightly contested 100m event that saw only .16 seconds separate first from fourth.

The men's 4x100m relay team was the second collegiate finisher, falling .10 seconds back.

The meet marked the Cajuns first appearance in Ruston in nearly 15 years dating back to the 1991 American South Outdoor Championships.
