Cross Country Travels to Natchitoches Monday
UL anxious to return
to action after Hurricane Rita
LAFAYETTE - The University of Louisiana's Men's and Women's cross country teams will travel to Natchitoches Monday to compete in the Northwestern State Invitational.
The meet will be held at NSU's Robert Wilson Recreation Complex and the Demon Hills Golf Course. The 6,000-meter women's race will begin at 4:15 p.m. and the 8,000-meter men's competition will start at 5 p.m.
On the women's side, teams competing are Centenary, East Texas Baptist, Grambling State, Louisiana College, McNeese State, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Southern, Texas A&M and Texas-Tyler. 14 teams will also compete on the men's side with Louisiana Tech replacing Nicholls State.
“Unfortunately, our last meet was canceled due to Hurricane Rita and we are very anxious to get back out there and compete,” said Head Coach Lance Veazey.
In their last meet, the Popeye's Ragin' Cajun Invite, the women finished second behind the winning Lady Demons and the men placed third. NSU's men finished fifth at the Ragin' Cajun Invite.
“It has been a tough week for us, but I think our kids are focused and ready to compete,” added Veazey.
After the NSU invite, the Ragin' Cajuns will return to Natchitoches Friday, October 21 to compete in the Northwestern State Open. The University of New Orleans Invite scheduled for Saturday, October 8 has been cancelled.
