Red Evens Up Series with 11-7 Win
Game 3 of Fall World Series will be Thursday at 6 p.m.

LAFAYETTE – The Red team used a five-run eighth inning to avenge Monday night's loss with an 11-7 victory over the White team in game two of the annual Red-White Fall World Series here at Moore Field. The series is now tied 1-1.

Justin Boyette received the win for the Red team, going 2 2/3 innings, allowing no runs on three hits. Senior Kraig Schambough received the loss for the White team, allowing five runs in one inning of work.

In the bottom of the first, Josh Landry hit a one-out double to left center. Landry advanced to third on a Chris Johns balk. Massiatte then reached on a fielding error by second baseman Matt Hicks. Landry scored on the play, giving Red a 1-0 lead. With two outs, senior first baseman Phillip Hawke sent a two-run home run over the left field fence, extending the Red team's lead to 3-0.

The White team put up two runs in the top of the second, trimming the Red team lead to 3-2. With one out, Matt Bounds singled up the middle and later advanced to second on a stolen base. Matt Casbon followed with an RBI triple to center field, plating Bounds. Justin Morgan singled through the left side past a diving Dallas Morris to score Casbon.

The Red team responded to retake its three-run lead. Jameson Parker drew a lead-off walk. Landry followed with a triple to left center, plating Parker. Massiatte singled up the middle, scoring Landry, to increase Red's lead to 5-2.

In the top of the fourth, Casbon sent a two-out solo home run over the left center field, making the score 5-3 in favor of the Red team.

The Red team tacked on another run in the bottom half of the fourth to increase its lead to 6-3.

White took the lead in the top of the sixth inning 7-6 after plating four runs. Guerrero drew a one-out walk and later advanced to second on a wild pitch. Alex Preciado drew a second walk, giving White two runners on base. John Coker singled home Guerrero, while Preciado advanced to second. Casbon drew the third walk of the inning.

Preciado then scored following a Justin Morgan hit by pitch. Micah Cockrell reached on a fielding error by Morris, which plated Coker. Bourque then drove in Casbon with an RBI single. Morgan was thrown out at home to end the inning.

Red team took the lead for good in the bottom of the eight inning. Morris led off the inning by reaching on a Nicky Prather throwing error and also advanced to second on the play. Phillip Hawke reached on a Cockrell fielding error. Hawke later advanced on a passed ball, while Morris advanced to third. John McCarthy plated Morris with an RBI single to left field.

Ray Dees followed up with a two RBI single up the middle, scoring Jefferies Tatford and Hawke. After a Cody Martin strikeout, Jameson Parker sent an RBI sacrifice fly to center field, which scored McCarthy. Dees later scored on a wild pitch. Massiatte grounded out to end the inning.

Casbon led the White team at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. McCarthy led the Red team, going 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Dees went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

The annual Red-White Fall World Series will continue Thursday with game three set to begin at 6 p.m.
