BATON ROUGE, La.- Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's cross country teams competed in the annual LSU Invitational here from Highland Road Park in Baton Rouge. The Ragin' Cajuns women's team finished 6th out of 13 teams in the 6K, while the men finished fifth overall in the 12-team 8K race.
Senior Prairieville, La. native, Natalie Gillis led the women's team with a third place finish overall with a time of 22:42, just ten seconds out of first place. It was her second top ten appearance in a row after a sixth place finish at the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational last week.
Junior Jennifer Gautreaux placed 29th overall at 24:21 followed by Laura Zaunbrecher in 36th place with a time of 24:53. Leah Legere finished 43rd overall at 25:07 to round out the top 50 for the Cajuns on the women's side.
Senior Nick Bouterie led the Ragin' Cajuns men's team in 11th place overall with a time of 27:01. Sophomore Justin Lemaire placed 23rd with a time of 27:24, followed by Ryan Dupree and Ben Schexnayder III in 37th and 38th at 28:21 to round out the top 40.
UL Lafayette will next compete in the Big Pete's 8k race in Lafayette on Saturday, October 4th and the NSU Invitational in Natchitoches, La. on Monday, October 6th.
