LAFAYETTE - Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns took their second exhibition victory in as many tries with an 90-80 win over the Arkansas Angels on Thursday night.

The win over the Angels was the final tune-up for the Cajuns before Tuesday's nationally televised (ESPN) game at Georgia Tech in the first round of the pre-season NIT.

Brad Boyd led the Cajuns with 24 points. Boyd's five second half three-pointers helped the Cajuns overcome a closely contested second half.

Antoine Landry added 21 points to match former Cajuns point guard Kenneth Lawrence.

Down 42-29 at the half, Arkansas center Festus Hawkins opened the second half with a basket, but the Angels' effort was quickly quelled by a 6-0 run from the home team.

The Angels bedeviled the Cajuns with a 10-2 run to close the margin to 60-50 in favor of UL Lafayette with 11:35 to play.

Arkansas scored nine more unanswered points to cut the Cajuns lead to 60-59. Landry nailed a three-pointer, but Kenneth Reynolds answered for Angels.

Boyd responded with a three-pointer to give the Cajuns a 66-62 edge with seven minutes to play.

Reynolds' lay-up cut the Arkansas' shortfall to two, but Chris Cameron converted a pair of free throws to pull the lead back to four.

Reynolds missed a pair of free throws before Boyd drilled a three-pointer to increase the Cajuns lead to 71-64.

A triple by Reynolds brought the Angels back within one-point, 73-72, but Laurie Bridges answered for the Cajuns with three minutes remaining in the game.

Boyd hit another three to give the Cajuns a seven point lead, which they would not relinquish.

Lawrence opened the game with a three-pointer against his former team as the Angels built a quick 5-0 lead.

The teams remained locked at 14-14 until the Cajuns went on a 12-0 spurt prompted by a three-pointer from Brian Hamilton. Two baskets by Landry, another from Hamilton and a dunk by Ross Mouton helped UL Lafayette to a 26-14 edge.

Brad Boyd nailed a three-pointer and a tough jumper, followed by basket from Landry to build the Cajuns lead to 17-points.

The Angels responded with five unanswered points to close within 13 points, but a triple from Landry put the hosts up 40-25 with 90 seconds remaining in the half.

Mouton matched a jumper by Lawrence before Lawrence's put-back at the buzzer sent the teams to their locker rooms with the Cajuns holding a 42-29 advantage.
