Cajuns fall to #9 Arkansas

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - Louisiana-Lafayette was upended 75-57 on Monday night by the No. 9 Arkansas Lady Razorbacks at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
The Cajuns trailed by only nine at the end of the first half despite committing 15 turnovers. Arkansas converted those turnovers into 22 points compared to the Cajuns three points converted off just six turnovers.
The Lady Razorbacks needed 3:33 of the second half to up their lead to double figures. Then, Arkansas went on a 12-4 run to take a 57-39 lead with 12:36 remaining in the game.
The Arkansas lead was never jeopardized in the second half, growing as large as 24 points late in the game.
The Cajuns shot well from the floor, 42.3 percent, but were undone by their own miscues, 23 turnovers. The Lady Razorbacks shot 40 percent, including nine three-pointers.
Shameka Christon led all scorers with 28 points and nine rebounds. Christon recorded four of Arkansas 10 steals on the evening. Ten different players scored for Arkansas, while a total of 13 saw time on the court.
The Cajuns were led by 22 points and nine rebounds from Charlotte Green. Sharee Glenn scored 13 points, her first double-digit effort since 19 points versus Missouri on Nov. 30. Anna Petrakova scored 11 points and added six rebounds and three blocks.
Arkansas started the game on an 11-2 run and never looked back. The Lady Razorbacks led the entire game using good perimeter shooting and by holding onto the basketball.
