Petrakova Receives Sun Belt Honors Again

LAFAYETTE- Junior center and Moscow, Russia, native Anna Petrakova was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of
the Week on Monday.
The award is the second of the season for Petrakova, who
garnered the honors back on Dec. 16.
Petrakova has helped the Cajuns (8-19 a year ago, 7-5
this season) to four straight wins, including the first
SBC opening victory in school history.
In three games last week, the junior center averaged
26.3 points (shooting 68% from the floor and 87% from
the FT line), 12.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, 1.7 steals and
1.7 assists per game.
In a 68-44 win against Lamar on January 6, Petrakova
finished with 24
points, 13 rebounds, 4 blocks while adding a steal and
an assist each. In the Sun Belt Conference opener
Saturday versus Denver, Petrakova led the scoring with
28 points, while pulling down 12 boards en route to an
80-57 Cajuns victory. In Sunday's 62-52 win against
Texas-Pan Am, the veteran chipped in 27 points to
compliment her 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 2
steals.
She has a string of four consecutive double-doubles and
seven in the last eight games. Over that span, Petrakova
has averaged 24.3 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks.
