HAMMOND -- After finishing the season as the Southeastern Conference leader in goals scored and points and finishing the season as the nation's fourth-leading scorer, LSU's Mandy Heintz has been named the 2002 Louisiana Sports Writers Association Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Year in a vote by the women's soccer sports information directors from across the state.

The second-team All-SEC selection had two matches during the season where she scored four goals while earning SEC Player of the Week honors and being named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week and the Soccer America Team of the Week.

LSU, which finished 12-5-3 and finished third in the SEC West Division, placed a team-high three members on the team as midfielder Stephanie Keating and goalkeeper Robyn Desormeaux was selected.
