2020 Season (Senior)
Twirled 24.2 innings, punching out 37 batters and recording a 1.09 ERA…In Young’s three starts, he struck out double-digit batters each time and became the first Ragin’ Cajun to do so since Austin Robichaux in 2014…Young tossed a three-hit complete game shutout in a 1-0 victory over Sam Houston State (2/29/20), becoming the first Ragin’ Cajun to accomplish that since Evan Guillory on April 5, 2016…Before the season ended, Young had not given up an earned run in 19.1 innings pitched…Young finished the 2020 season as one of the best pitchers in the Sun Belt, tied for most strikeouts looking (12), tied for first in wins (3), second most strikeouts (37), the fifth lowest ERA (1.09) and was one of two pitchers to throw a shutout.

In his first season at Louisiana, Young pitched in 54.1 innings while recording a 4.80 ERA…Fanned a team-high 72 batters…Had multiple double digit strikeout games…His best pitching performance of the season came against Arkansas State (4/6) where he went seven innings, only gave up four hits, one earned run, and recorded a single game team-high 13 strikeouts which was the most since April 12, 2013 when Austin Robichaux fanned 14.

Spent two seasons at Howard Community College (2017-18)…In his first season, boasted an 8-3 record, striking out 74 batters in 64.1 innings pitched…Saw 21.1 innings in 2018, striking out 34 batters…Named an All-Conference pitcher in 2017…Notched three complete games with one shutout.

Attended Lumberton High School…Named a 2016 Perfect Game Texas Region Honorable Mention selection…Also named a First Team All-District Pitcher after helping guide his team to the state playoffs…Named the district MVP in 2015 and the District Freshman of the Year in 2013…Made the state playoffs in both of those seasons as well.
