Conley Claims Javelin Title as Louisiana Classics Open Friday

LAFAYETTE – Freshman Robert Conley recorded a throw of 204 feet, 6 inches to claim the overall title in the men's javelin while Sarah Dupuy and Emma Bacilla posted top-4 marks in the women's javelin to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Track and Field team during the opening day of the Louisiana Classics at the Home Bank Soccer and Track Complex.
The final day of the meet will begin with the 10,000-meter run at 7 a.m. before field events begin at 9:30 a.m. Running events will begin with the women's 4x100-meter relay at 1:10 p.m. Live results are available at RaginCajuns.com.
Conley claimed the overall crown on his second attempt of the day as Louisiana placed four athletes in the top-11. Will Howard finished fourth overall for Louisiana at 192-10 with Sam Kinnard finishing 10th (169-0) and Chase Lathrop 11th (163-3).
Dupuy recorded a throw of 134-6 on her third attempt to finish third overall in the women's javelin for Louisiana. Bacilla opened with a throw of 128-9 to seal fourth for the Ragin' Cajuns with Macy Dailey finishing sixth after a mark of 128-0.
Praiyer Jones turned in an eighth-place performance in the men's discus after recording a mark of 154-11 on his first attempt. Aniya Hill posted a mark of 132-11 in her opening attempt in the women's discus to finish 16th.
