Ragin' Cajuns capture identical 4-0 decisions over Louisiana Christian and Southern
LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Tennis team opened its Spring 2026 dual match season with a doubleheader sweep at Cajun Courts on Thursday, January 22, defeating both Louisiana Christian and Southern University by a 4-0 margin.
The Ragin' Cajuns (2-0) success was directed by Angelique Berrat and Rocio Navarro who both picked up a singles win in each match, accounting for two of the three singles points each time.
Louisiana proved to be flawless in its season debut, capturing victory on every doubles and singles court that was completed.
Berrat started the day teaming up with Nina Krecklenberg for the first doubles decision over LCU and later was the first to clinch in singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Raquel Rodrigues on Court 1 to open a 2-0 match lead over the Wildcats.
Navarro's win on Court 4 brought UL closer to victory and it set up freshman Martina Della Gora to clinch the match in her collegiate debut with her 6-1, 6-0 win on Court 3 over Valeria Callejo.
Against Southern, it was Navarro and Krecklenberg steering the Ragin' Cajuns as together they clinched the doubles point with their 6-1 win on Court 2 and then were the first two to finish with a win in singles.
Berrat, last season's leader with nine singles victories including seven on Court 1, picked up where she left off as she made it a 2-0 day on Court 1 with her 6-1, 6-3 win over Tshegofatso Tsiang to clinch the match over Southern.
