Ragin' Cajuns lost late lead in 63-58 setback to Jags on New Year's Eve

MOBILE, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team continues on its four-game road trip on Saturday when it faces Sun Belt Conference rival South Alabama at the Mitchell Center.
 
Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. The game will be available on ESPN+, with fans able to listen to the game in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app. Live results will be available at CajunStats.StatBroadcast.com.
 
Louisiana (4-15, 2-5 SBC) looks to split the season-series against South Alabama (13-5, 4-2 SBC) after dropping a 63-58 contest on New Year's Eve at the Cajundome. The Jaguars scored the game's final nine points in the final 1:28 to claim the win as Adam Olsen scored a game-high 26 points.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns opened their trip on Wednesday in a 59-52 loss at Texas State. Dorian Finister kept up his consistent performance on the floor scoring a team-high 18 points with De'Vion Lavergne adding 10.
 
South Alabama got another late game rally in its previous game, erasing a four-point deficit with under a minute remaining to force overtime and edge Arkansas State, 91-87, on Thursday.
 
Chaze Harris, the SBC's leading scorer at 18.1 points per game, tied a career-high with 38 points against A-State, shooting 14-for-25 from the field and 10-of-15 from the free-throw line.

• Louisiana continues its four-game SBC road trip on Saturday when it visits South Alabama in an afternoon game at the Mitchell Center.
• South Alabama claimed the previous meeting between the schools, 63-58, scoring the game's final nine points in the final 1:28 in a New Year's Eve contest at the Cajundome.
• The win by the Jaguars broke a 33-all deadlock in the series.
• Louisiana looks to snap a three-game losing streak in the series and two-game streak overall.
The Ragin' Cajuns are 1-9 on the road this season with their lone victory coming in a 76-62 win at ULM on December 20.
