WBB Imani Daniel Drives Inside vs. Texas State 01.10.26

Ragin’ Cajuns Fortune Changes in Second Quarter

1/10/2026 9:35:00 PM | Women's Basketball

First of untimely scoring droughts occurred and Louisiana fell behind Texas State

LAFAYETTE – A promising start for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team was rerouted by a quiet second quarter and Texas State took advantage going on to post a 55-43 victory on Saturday, January 10 at the Cajundome.

Charged by Imani Daniel who scored each of the team's first three baskets, the Ragin' Cajuns (1-15, 0-6 SBC) were off to a 6-2 lead just over two minutes into the game.

Texas State (7-8, 3-2 SBC) rallied into an 8-all tie by the media timeout but it was Louisiana coming out on top in a back-and-forth finish to the opening period after two Bianca Silva free throws at 0:50 provided a 13-12 lead.

After Silva's free throws it would be six minutes before UL tallied another point, offsetting the Ragin' Cajuns defensive pressure which forced 16 Bobcats turnovers over the first 15-plus minutes of play.

TXST capitalized on the Ragin' Cajuns second-quarter starting scoring drought, reeling off seven unanswered points to pull ahead 19-13 and never relinquished the lead.

Louisiana found its shooting touch again in the third quarter and remained within in two possessions of Texas State midway through the quarter. A Mikaylah Manley three-pointer at 4:53 was the fourth make in eight attempts and trimmed the Bobcats lead to 33-29.

After the media timeout the Ragin' Cajuns offense had a lull again going without a field goal make for four minutes and Texas State went inside to Kyra Anderson for six of the 10 points on a scoring run that opened a 43-29 lead.

Kahlen Norris' triple before the third quarter expired began a 9-2 charge by the Ragin' Cajuns which was capped off by inside baskets from Amijah Price and Daniel during the seven-minute mark that closed the gap to 45-38 with 7:22 remaining.

The Bobcats defense then forced 10 straight misses and found another 10-0 run which sealed the outcome.

The defeat kept the Ragin' Cajuns winless in SBC play. Texas State completed the season sweep of the season series.

Saturday's game marked the final conference matchup between Louisiana and Texas State. The Bobcats depart for the PAC-12 following the 2025-26 season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Daniel converted eight field goals and led Louisiana in scoring with 16 points – her second time leading in scoring against the Bobcats. She also grabbed a team-leading seven rebounds.

The Ragin' Cajuns made six 3-pointers with Manley and Norris both connecting on a pair. The total three-point makes were a season-high against a D1 foe while the 40-percent mark (6-of-15) was an overall high total.

Norris joined Silva in dishing out three assists, the Ragin' Cajuns totaling nine assists on 17 made baskets.

Louisiana produced 10 steals with Norris and Marina Artero collecting three apiece. Overall, the Ragin' Cajuns forced Texas State into 26 turnovers.

UL only made two less field goals than TXST but the Bobcats trumped the Ragin' Cajuns in shooting percentage by connecting on 41 percent (19-of-46) compared to 26 percent (17-of-65).

Texas State had a commanding 32-18 edge on points in the paint, picking up 22 in the decisive second half.
