Play Suspended Due To Darkness at Highlands Invitational

Louisiana one of six teams remaining on course; play to resume at 7 a.m.

WESTCHESTER, Ill. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team was in fifth place overall after the opening day of the Highlands Invitational, hosted by Turtleson, which was suspended due to darkness on Monday at the Chicago Highlands Golf Club.
Louisiana, which will resume second-round play on Tuesday at 7 a.m., was one of six teams remaining on the course when play was halted. The Ragin' Cajuns were in fifth place in the 13-team field and one stroke behind Eastern Michigan.
Ellis Bright, competing individually, was the lone player to finish for Louisiana after posting identical scores of 4-over-par 76. Malan Potgieter was 2-under in the round after 15 holes and tied for eighth overall at 4-under.
Jay Brooks opened play with a 1-under 71 and was 1-over-par after 17 holes in the second round. Carter Schmitt was 3-over after 16 holes in the second round while Drew Sliman and Jean Louis du Plessis were each at 6-over for the round.
Potgieter opened the day with a 2-under-par 70 which was aided by an eagle at No. 18. Sliman added his first collegiate eagle in the opening round at No. 14 enroute to a 1-over 73 while Bright recorded an eagle at No. 18 in his Louisiana debut.
Co-hosts Wake Forest (-17) and East Tennessee State (-13) finished in the top two spots with Coastal Carolina (+1) a distant third. EMU (+6) and Louisiana (+7) rounded out the top five followed by VCU (+10), UTSA (+18), Iowa (+19), Louisiana Tech (+20) and Loyola-Chicago (+23).
