Louisiana Finishes Road Swing with Pair of Stops in Mississippi

LORMAN, Miss. – Louisiana Volleyball is set to take to the road for the second straight week, this time traveling to the state of Mississippi for a pair of non-conference matches beginning on Thursday, September 11 in Lorman, Miss., at Alcorn.

Following Thursday's contest, the Ragin' Cajuns (5-1) make their way to Oxford, Miss., to take on Ole Miss live on SEC Network Plus (SECN+).

Both matches begin at 6:00 p.m. The trip marks the final road non-conference games of the 2025 season.

Louisiana is meeting both Alcorn (0-5) and Ole Miss (3-2) for the first time since September 2013 – also the last time the Ragin' Cajuns appeared on the two teams' home court.

Opposite hitters Cailin Demps and Jazmine Gaston seek to build upon all-tournament performances at the SFA Tournament. Demps, who scored 49 kills off 100 swings on .340 hitting last weekend in Nacogdoches, headlines Louisiana's offense that ranks Top 25 nationally in kills (323) and Top 75 in hitting percentage (.257).

Defensively, the Ragin' Cajuns frontline turned in a season-high in blocks the last two matches spearheaded by freshman Lindsey Henry who threw up nine of the weekend-total 17 blocks at SFA in the last outing.

Louisiana plays its final road non-conference matches of 2025.
The Cajuns are closing out a five-match road swing, which began with a 2-1 mark at SFA's tournament last weekend.
At 5-1, UL is off to its best start since 2020 (opened 11-0) and now has the best start of Kristi Gray's tenure (previous 4-1 in 2023).
Opposite hitter Cailin Demps stole the show at SFA, posting 49 kills (4.1/set) while hitting .340 over her 100 swings taken.
Freshman middle blocker Lindsey Henry tallied 14 of her 17 blocks in the two wins at the SFA Tournament.
The frontline defense surfaced at SFA, recording season-highs in blocks in the wins over Sam Houston (10) and ACU (15).
Early returns have shown a marked improvement in hitting percentage – UL's off to a .257 in 2025 (hit .156 entire 2024 season).
The Ragin' Cajuns rank Top 25 nationally in total kills (323) and Top 75 in hitting percentage (.257).
Several scoring options abound, Louisiana had at least six players notch multiple kills each of the first three matches.
Charged by eight players averaging at least 1.25 kills per set, UL's offense averaged 13.5 kills per set on opening weekend.

NUMBERS TO KNEAUX
7: Louisiana recorded seven (7) victories in five-set matches in the 2024 season.
6-0: Louisiana has started with the match lead each outing, entering the week with a 6-0 mark in Set 1.
140: Opposite hitters Cailin Demps and Jazmine Gaston are leading the charge offensively, having combined for 140 kills (6.03/set).
413: UL entered the season with valuable experience at setter, junior transfers Ryleigh Garis and Nene Hawkins having combined to play in 413 sets.

UP NEXT FOR LOUISIANA
The Ragin' Cajuns return home to E.K. Long Gym for the Ragin' Cajuns Classic scheduled for Friday-Saturday, September 19-20.

Louisiana hosts Southern and Nicholls in the round robin event, meeting the Jaguars on Friday (Sept. 19) at 6:00 p.m. and then matching up with the Colonels on Saturday (Sept. 20) at Noon.

The Ragin' Cajuns Classic marks the final non-conference matches of the 2025 season. Louisiana opens Sun Belt play the following weekend, September 26-27, on the road at Texas State.
