Senior to tee off beginning at 3:07 p.m CT from Olympic Club Lake Course

SAN FRANCISCO – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golfer Malan Potgieter begins his quest at the 125th United States Amateur Championship when stroke play begins on Monday at the historic Olympic Club.

Potgieter, one of three players from his native South Africa in the 312-player field, will tee off beginning at 3:07 p.m. CT from the No. 9 tee on the Olympic Club Lake Course.

The championship opens with two rounds of stroke play – one each on the Olympic Club's Lake and Ocean courses – on Monday and Tuesday. The top 64 players will advance to match play beginning Wednesday (Aug. 13), with coverage available on both Peacock and the Golf Channel.

Match play will continue through Sunday, Aug. 17, ending in a 36-hole final. Both the champion and runner-up will earn exemptions into the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y.

Potgieter punched his ticket to the U.S. Amateur after finishing second overall in a regional qualifier last month in Rockwall, Texas. The Ragin' Cajuns standout fired a 6-under-par 66 to secure one of seven available spots in the championship field.
