Higgs, Stelly Named To All-Sun Belt Baseball Team

Cajuns' top two hitters part of 28-member team
NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana's Conor Higgs and Caleb Stelly were each honored on Monday as the duo was named to the 2025 All-Sun Belt Conference Baseball team, which was voted on by the league's 14 head coaches and released by the league office.

Higgs, a redshirt senior, was named as a first-team outfielder, with Stelly, a junior, named as the second-team designated hitter.
Â
Higgs finished the regular season as the Ragin' Cajuns leader in average (.346), home runs (16) and RBI (45). The Texas City, Texas native finished fifth among SBC players in hitting and was second in both slugging percentage (.681) and OPS (1.147).

In Sun Belt Conference games, Higgs posted a .695 slugging percentage and 1.165 OPS to rank second overall. Higgs recorded 20 multiple hit games to lead the team and has a team-best 13 games with two or more RBI.

Higgs reached base safely in 23 straight games during the season drove in season-high five runs against South Alabama. He had a nine-game stretch during the season where he was 13-for-29 (.448) at the plate with five homers and 14 RBI, raising his batting average 49 points (.295 to .344).

Stelly finished behind Higgs in both average (.314) and home runs (8), and hit .356 in SBC games to finish eighth overall
Â
The Baton Rouge, La., native finished the regular season with a nine-game hit streak (14-for-31, .452) with three homers and 10 RBI.

Stelly posted 16 multi-hit games during the season to rank second behind Higgs and had a team-best 24-game streak of reaching base. Six of his career-high eight homers were recorded in SBC play. He recorded his first career multi-homer game at Georgia State where he was 2-for-3 with three RBI in middle game of an eventual three-game sweep.

Louisiana, the No. 5 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championships, opens play on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. when it faces No. 4-seeded Marshall at Riverwalk Stadium – home of the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits – in Montgomery, Ala.
