Cajun Comeback Comes Up Short in SBC Quarterfinals

Oriol Fillat Gimenez, Samuel Kyjaci, and Mason Landreth earned singles wins in the effort
ROME, Georgia – The Louisiana men's tennis team fell in the Sun Belt Conference Quarterfinals, 4-3, as their second attempt at a comeback win over Troy fell short at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia.
Mirroring their match earlier in the season, the Trojans won the doubles matches on one and three for the point. The match on two was tied 4-4, with Samuel Kyjaci and Leonard Tramolay's match going unfinished.
Once the action turned to singles, the Trojans went ahead 3-0 with wins on courts two and three. Louisiana wouldn't go down without a fight as Oriol Fillat Gimenez got them on the board with a straight set, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), win on court one. Moments later Kyjaci earned a 7-5, 6-4 win on four while the matches on courts five and six began a decisive third set.
Mason Landreth continued his hot play, battling back after dropping the opening set to win 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 6-1. With it all up to court six, just like the regular season meeting, the Trojans pulled out the final match in a close one to advance to the conference semifinals.
