The senior won eight matches for the Cajuns
LAFAYETTE – Oriol Fillat Gimenez was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team for singles, the league announced as part of their annual awards on Thursday.
The senior won eight matches playing at courts one and two for the Ragin' Cajuns. Fillat Gimenez took over the spot on court one in February and never let it go. He won back-to-back matches against New Mexico State and Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and also earned wins over Southern Miss and Coastal Carolina in conference play. The Barcelona native had three SBC matches go unfinished, with him leading in the final set in two of them.
The Ragin' Cajuns are set to face Troy in the opening round of the SBC Championships on Friday, with first serve slated for 9 a.m. from the Rome Tennis Center.
