Louisiana Heads to Hattiesburg for Golden Eagle Invitational

The Ragin’ Cajuns won 22 matches in their opening weekend
HATTIESBURG, Mississippi – The Louisiana men's tennis team continues their fall schedule this weekend at the Golden Eagle Fall Invitational in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
The event is hosted by a familiar foe in Southern Miss, who faced the Ragin' Cajuns a few weeks ago at the Youngsville Hidden Duals. Louisiana had a strong showing against their Sun Belt Conference rival, going undefeated in doubles before going 3-1 in singles action.
William Ribero earned a pair of wins over the Golden Eagles playing on court one in the team's fall opener. Oriol Fillat Gimenez and Samuel Kyjaci also picked up singles wins over Southern Miss.
It will be the first official event for new head coach Thomas Sevel, who was named interim head coach in July. Sevel's squad opened the year with a combined 22 wins over three days at the Youngsville Hidden Duals against Southern Miss, Tulane, and Tyler Junior College.
Louisiana will then have some time off for the ITA Regionals starting October 16 in Baton Rouge.
