Wright has started 30 career games between Oregon State and Georgia
LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – The Louisiana men's basketball team improved their backcourt with the signing of Christian Wright the team announced on Sunday. Wright spent the last two seasons at Oregon State after spending his freshman season at Georgia.
"Christian fills a need for the team at the point position," said head coach Bob Marlin. "He brings experience from playing major minutes at Georgia and Oregon State. Christian is an excellent defender whose best quality is getting in the paint and creating for his teammates. We welcome Christian to the Ragin' Cajun family."
The Alpharetta, Georgia native played in 29 games last season for the Beavers, making 14 starts. He averaged 3.4 points and dished out 21 assists while averaging 18.4 minutes a game. He twice scored in double figures last season, doing so against Troy and Arizona State.
At Georgia, he started 11 games and was one of three players to see the floor in all 32 contests for the Bulldogs. He had a breakout performance against No. 18 Memphis, scoring a career-high 17 points along with six rebounds. Wright also had a 16-point performance against No. 2 Auburn. Out of high school, 247 Sports rated Wright the 36th-best point guard in the class of 2021.
Wright joins a reloaded Cajun roster in 2024-25 that includes fellow signees Jeremiah Evans (Forward/Southwood High School), Duncan Powell (Forward/Sacramento State), Kyndall Davis (Forward/Eastern Illinois), and Mostpaha El Moutaouakkil (Guard/Indian River State).
