Louisiana Adds Elite Scorer in El Moutaouakkil

El Moutaouakkil was the fifth-leading scorer last season in the NJCAA at 25.0 PPG
LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – The Louisiana men's basketball team added one of the best scorers in the junior college ranks with the signing of Mostapha El Moutaouakkil. El Moutaouakkil was the fifth leading scorer in the country in the NJCAA at 25.0 points per game.
"Mo is a talented basketball player with a good skill set," said head coach Bob Marlin. "He had a big year at Indian River and was one of the top scorers in the NJCAA. Mo creates for others and is a good rebounder with his size. He's versatile and will play multiple positions."
The Rabat, Morocco native stuffed the stat sheet last season at Indian River State College. As a sophomore, he scored 20 or more points in 17 of his 23 games. No game stood out more than his 58-point performance against Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. That game he was 18-of-28 (.643) from the floor and 20-of-24 (.833) from the free throw line in the win.
That performance earned him the first of his two NJCAA National Player of the Week honors. He also earned it in late January after scoring 33.0 points and grabbing 11.0 rebounds per game on the week.
He flashed an all-around game, going 32-for-82 (.390) from three while averaging 6.6 rebounds per game and 2.7 assists.
El Moutaouakkil joins a reloaded Cajun roster in 2024-25 that includes fellow signees Jeremiah Evans (Forward/Southwood High School), Duncan Powell (Forward/Sacramento State), and Kyndall Davis (Forward/Eastern Illinois).
