All three posted the top score in the conference in their events
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana - The Louisiana track and field team cleaned up the Sun Belt Conference Athlete of the Week awards on Wednesday. Three Cajuns were honored with Marin Barras, Moseiha Bridgen, and Javed Jones recognized by the league for their performances last week.
Barras was named the Female Field Athlete of the Week after her javelin throw of 161-5 put her on top of the league by nearly 10 feet. That throw was also the sixth-longest in program history.
Bridgen claimed the Female Track Athlete of the Week after a dominating performance in the 400H. Her time of 57.77 is the fastest in the conference and has a 2.5-second lead over the next closest competitor. She ranks 17th in the country in the 400H and eighth in the East Region, while moving up to number two in the Louisiana record books.
Jones ran a 50.27 in the 400H to earn Male Track Athlete of the Week. The senior now holds the top time in the conference by nearly two seconds and is third in school history. His time puts him 10th in the nation and fifth in the East Region this season.
The Cajuns return to action next Friday, April 13 in Natchitoches for the Leon Johnson Invitational.
