Ragin’ Cajuns Continue Run at SBC Tournament Against Troy

Louisiana and Troy tip off at 7:30 p.m. Friday

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Louisiana women's basketball team continues their run at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Friday as the seventh-seeded Ragin' Cajuns take on No. 2 Troy at the Pensacola Bay Center.
 
The game between the Ragin' Cajuns (16-13, 10-8 SBC) and the Trojans (19-10, 15-3 SBC) will be streamed live on ESPN+ with radio coverage in the Lafayette area on The GOAT 103.3 FM and 1420 AM and The Varsity Network worldwide.
 
Louisiana opened play at the tournament with a 54-41 victory over Arkansas State on Wednesday. The Cajuns held the Red Wolves to just 30 percent from the field and allowed fewer than 10 points in each of the first three quarters in the victory.
 
Tamera Johnson led the offense with 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting while also pulling down six rebounds. Brandi Williams finished in double figures wi­th 10 points, including a trio from long range. Tamiah Robinson was a force on the boards with 10, matching her career high, to go along with five points and three assists.
 
Friday's contest is the third meeting between the two teams this season as the Trojans swept the regular season series against the Ragin' Cajuns, winning 90-44 in Troy ­on Jan. 10 and in Lafayette on Jan. 20, 65-57.
 
For the season, Williams paces the Cajun offense with 11.0 points per game while Johnson is second with 10.4 points and hauls in a team-high 6.3 rebounds. Jaylyn James ranks tied for third at 8.0 points per game with Destiny Rice.
 
Troy is led by Tai'Sheka Prochia and Makayia Hallmon, who average 15.2 points per game as Prochia is second on the team with 8.1 rebounds. Ja'Mia Hollings is the team's leading rebounder at 8.8 per game and is third in scoring at 14.6 points per game.
