The Cajuns won five singles matches for their first road win of 2024
NACOGDOCHES, Louisiana - A strong round of singles led the Louisiana women's team to their first road win of the season, 5-2, over Stephen F. Austin. The Ragin' Cajuns won five of the six singles matches to hand the Ladyjacks their first loss of the season.
Louisiana (2-2) got off to a hot start in doubles with a court one win by Carla Urchoeguia and Angelique Berrat, 6-1. After SFA (5-1) won on court two to even the score, they took court three 7-5, grabbing the doubles point.
Paige Duncan earned her first singles win of the year on court six, 7-5, 6-2 for the first Cajun point of the afternoon. The Ladyjacks took the match on court three to go ahead 2-1 but it was all Cajuns from there.
Cristina Tchanichev won on court two in straight sets, 6-0, 7-5 before Urchoeguia won, 0-6, 7-5, 6-4, on court one to put the Cajuns on the brink of clinching. Berrat clinched the match in a third set tiebreaker, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-1) before Jenaila Prulla finished the match with a three-set 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-1 win on court four.
Next up the Cajuns head to Starkville to take on Mississippi State on Friday with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m.
