Ragin’ Cajuns Start Sun Belt Play on the Road

Louisiana meets Georgia Southern in Sunday matinee in Statesboro
STATESBORO, Ga. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team enters into Sun Belt Conference play on Sunday, December 29 pairing up with Georgia Southern in the league opener at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center in Statesboro, Georgia. Tip-off is set for 12:00 p.m. (CST).
A member since the 1991-92 season, UL is opening its 34th season of competition within the Sun Belt.
Starting league play on the road for the first time since January 2021, Louisiana (4-5, 0-0 SBC) joins Georgia Southern (7-5, 0-0 SBC) in competing in the first-ever SBC game at the Eagles' newly constructed home facility.
The Ragin' Cajuns, shorthanded throughout the month of December with at most eight players available, have leaned upon leading scorers Tamiah Robinson (11.1) and Erica Lafayette (11.0) who have combined to average 25.5 points the last two regular season outings.
UL seeks to build upon Friday's 63-43 exhibition win over Dillard in search of its first road win of the season.
The Eagles are in their first season with head coach Hana Haden. Reigning SBC Player of the Week Leah Johnson scored double figures all three games last week highlighted by a season-high 24 points in a come-from-behind win over Wright State.

The Ragin' Cajuns return to the Cajundome for a weekend set against James Madison and Georgia State, marking the first home conference games of the season.
The SBC home opener with JMU is set for Thursday, January 2 at 6:00 p.m. It's the Dukes' first-ever visit to the Cajundome since joining the league in 2022-23.
The GSU contest follows on Saturday, January 4 at 1:00 p.m.
Admission to all UL Women's Basketball games throughout the entire season is free and open to the public.
