LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana men's basketball team welcomes Rice to the Cajundome on Tuesday with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. following the conclusion of the women's game. Last season the Cajuns handled Rice 84-67 at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston.
The Ragin' Cajuns look to bounce back after a 91-45 defeat at No. 8 Houston. Louisiana was led offensively by Christian Wright's eight points while Kentrell Garnett, Kyndall Davis, and Chancellor White added seven in the effort.
Last season the Cajuns cruised to an 84-67 win over Rice in Houston. The Cajuns caught fire in the opening half from three-point range, going 10-for-19 from beyond the arc. Kentrell Garnett had a solid night, going 4-for-7 from deep for 12 points in the wire-to-wire victory.
Rice comes to the Cajundome for the first of six in a row away from their home floor, which also includes Sun Belt foes Arkansas State and Texas State. The Owls are 3-1 under first-year head coach Rob Lanier. Lanier is a familiar face to Louisiana as he's faced the Ragin' Cajuns seven times as a head coach between his previous two stops at Georgia State and SMU.

• Louisiana won last season at Tudor Fieldhouse, 84-67. The Ragin' Cajuns had a huge first half from deep, shooting 10-of-19 from three in the win. Six players, including all five starters finished in double figures for Louisiana.
• This is the first meeting between the schools in the Cajundome since 2012. The Owls took the last meeting 68-63 on March 14, 2012, as part of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Louisiana's Josh Brown led all scorers with 22 points while Elfrid Payton added seven points, seven rebounds, and four assists. It's the third meeting between the two in Lafayette since 1949.
• Louisiana played its third home game of the season in 2024-25. Since the start of the 2022-23 season, the Cajuns are 26-4 (.867) at home.
• Next up for the Cajuns is the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam beginning Friday against Liberty. The Cajuns will face Kansas State or George Washington on Saturday or Sunday, depending on the outcome. They'll finish the event against Longwood, UAB, Illinois State, or McNeese.
