Louisiana Sweeps SBC Cross Country Runner of the Week Awards

NEW ORLEANS - After a dominating performance at Cowboy Stampede over the weekend, the Louisiana cross country team earned recognition from the Sun Belt Conference by sweeping the Runner of the Week awards. Peyton Chiasson won the men's side while Isabelle Russell won the women's award.

Chiasson won the Cowboy Stampede, running a personal-best time of 19:20.9 in the four-mile race. The senior won the race by nearly seven seconds while Louisiana claimed first as a team with second, fifth, seventh, and ninth-place finishes.

Russell also set a personal best on Saturday at 17:05.1 in the 5k. That time was good enough to finish second individually while Louisiana placed second as a team.

Louisiana wraps up the regular season with the Arturo Barrios Invitational on October 18 in Bryan-College Station, Texas.
