Cajuns Hosting SBC Softball Tournament, Begin Play Thursday

Louisiana enjoying comforts of Lamson Park as latest postseason journey begins
LAFAYETTE – No. 24 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball is hosting the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Tournament at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park and is scheduled to begin play in the event on Thursday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m.
There are 10 Sun Belt Conference teams participating in the single-elimination tournament from Wednesday-Saturday, May 10-13, vying for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The event begins on Wednesday, May 10 with a pair of first round games, ramps up with the quarterfinal round on Thursday, May 11 and concludes with the championship game on Saturday, May 13 at 1:00 p.m.
Louisiana (43-13, 22-2 Sun Belt), conference champions for the fourth consecutive year and 19th time in the 22 seasons of completed regular season play, earned the tournament's No. 1 seed and is one of the six teams with a bye from opening day action on Wednesday (May 10).Â
The Ragin' Cajuns quarterfinal round opponent on Thursday (May 11) will be the winner of the ULM-Georgia State first round contest. The other half of Louisiana's side of the bracket includes No. 4 seed Troy (33-18-1, 14-9-1 SBC) and No. 5 seed Texas State (33-22-1, 13-9-1 SBC)

The page is housed at SunBeltSports.org, and is accessed by scrolling over the Championships section on the site header and clicking Softball in the drop-down menu.
All games of the tournament are being broadcast on ESPN+, available at WatchESPN.com and through the ESPN app. Louisiana's games will also air on 103.3 FM The Goat and 1420 AM in the Acadiana region and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
Louisiana has claimed the SBC Tournament title 17Â times in the 22-year history of the event, and seeks to claim a fourth consecutive championship and defend its most recent titles claimed in San Marcos, Texas in 2019, Troy, Alabama in 2021 and Mobile, Alabama in 2022.
The Ragin' Cajuns sport an all-time record of 69-9 (.885) in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and carry a streak of 11 consecutive tournament games won entering the 2023 event. Louisiana has played for the championship in all but two of the previous 22 tournaments and previously won titles at Lamson Park in 2000, 2004, 2011 and 2014.

Tickets remain available, with prices starting at $11 for general admission outfield seating. Purchases can be made in advance at the Louisiana Athletics Ticket Office at the Cajundome, on game day at the Lamson Park Ticket Booth or online. UL students with a valid University ID can receive free entry by showing their ID at the Lamson Park Ticket Booth. YRC Club cards are not eligible for entry since this is a postseason tournament.

PARKING
For fans attending the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, parking is available in the General Parking area located at Cajun Field on the corner of Reinhardt Drive and Cajundome Boulevard. Parking passes are required for parking at Lamson Park. Handicap parking spaces are available in both the General Parking and Lamson Park lot.
With anticipation of high traffic on Friday and Saturday due to University graduation, fans can utilize Blackham Coliseum or Print Shop parking and ride the shuttle to Lamson Park. The shuttle schedule is as follows: Friday (May 12) from 3:00pm-11:00pm (or 30 minutes after end of game) and Saturday (May 13) from 12:00pm-4:00pm (or 30 minutes after end of game).
