Berrat, Tchanichev Earn Tenth Win of the Spring

LAFAYETTE – Both Angelique Berrat and Cristina Tchanichev reached a personal milestone on Monday against Texas State at Cajun Courts, each earning their 10th singles win of the spring. The duo remain tied for the team lead in wins with just one regular season game remaining. Despite the wins it wasn't enough to overcome a late rally by the Bobcats and the Cajuns fell 4-3.
The Cajuns grabbed the first win of the day with a 6-3 win on court one in doubles. Carla Urchoeguia and Berrat continued their strong play, winning their fourth match in their last five tries. Courts two and three were closely contested, but a Cajun win on three clinched the point. Stephanie Atelius and Momoko Yoshimua came away with the 7-5 win while on two, Lucie Raquin and Angel Santiago held a 6-5 lead when the match was called.
Berrat's 6-4, 6-2 win on court three put the Cajuns up 2-0 at the start of singles. Four of the six matches ended in a third after the Cajuns won the opening set. The Bobcats rallied though to take three of those four, along with court six, to squeak out the 4-3 win. Tchanichev finished her match on court four to win in a third set but it was too late in the end.
