LAFAYETTE – Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns pitcher Hogan Harris became the 16th player in school history to reach the Major Leagues when he was called up to the Oakland A's from Triple-A Las Vegas, the organization announced late Thursday.

Harris, who played for Louisiana from 2016-18 and was the No. 85 overall selection by Oakland in 2018, made two appearances for Las Vegas where he fanned five batters in 4.1 innings of action.

Rated as the No. 23-overall prospect in the A's organization and the top left-handed pitcher, Harris returned to the mound in 2022 after overcoming an elbow injury and posted a combined 2-4 record with a 3.42 earned run average with stops at High-A Lansing, Double-A Midland and Triple-A Las Vegas.

The southpaw struck out 105 batters in a combined 73.2 innings while making 23 appearances with 22 starts.

Harris notched a career 12-4 record with a 2.87 ERA in three seasons with Louisiana. In 153.2 innings pitched, Harris recorded 167 strikeouts with a .227 opponents average. In his final season in 2018, Harris recorded a 5-2 record with a career-best 2.62 ERA with 54 strikeouts in 58.1 innings pitched.
