BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are poised for a big showing at the 2023 Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships starting Monday, February 20, from the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.  The Cajuns are coming off a strong showing at the Samford Bulldog Invitational in which they claimed 17 event wins, in the same venue as the championships.  The championships will be held over two days, Monday and Tuesday, beginning at 10 a.m.

Last time out, Jacqueline Pokuaaah took first-place in three individual events, winning the 60-meter hurdles, the long jump, and triple jump.  The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Ta'La Spates, Kayla McCray, Moseisha Bridgen and Alexandra Johnson broke the school-record with a time of 3:47.26.  McCray also took first-place finishes in the women's 60- and 200-meter dashes.  Louisiana also took home first-place in the women's 400-meters with Bridgen claiming the top spot while Kennedy Washington finished on top of the women's high jump and Jordan Brown taking the women's pole vault.

Trejun Jones looks to factor into the top of the SBC Championships after taking home the 60-meter dash in Birmingham just 10 days ago.  Kashie Crockett finished in first-place in the 200-meter dash, just ahead of Jones.  Peyton Chaisson took home the top spot in the mile while in the 400-meter Nathan Fergusson came home victorious.  Fergusson, Antoni Hoyte-Small, Crockett and Javed Jones captured the men's 4x400-meter relay.  They finished the event with Tyren Hannah winning the weight throw, Rylan Theyard taking the high jump and Jeremy Nelson in the triple jump.

The competition begins each day at 10 a.m. CT with multi-events, while running events start at 3:05 p.m. Monday and 1:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday.  The championship awards ceremony will close the event on Tuesday.  The Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships will be broadcast live on ESPN+ at the start of the running events.
