Cajuns Open Spring Golf Schedule at Hal Williams Collegiate

MOBILE, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team officially tees off the 2023 portion of its schedule on Monday when it opens play at the Hal Williams Collegiate presented by Hampton by Hilton – Providence Park at Magnolia Grove Golf Club.

The 54-hole event will begin on Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start and playing 36 holes before playing the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Live results for the tournament can be accessed on GolfStat.com and RaginCajuns.com.

Louisiana, which is part of a 15-team field in the event hosted by South Alabama, will be joined in the event by Arkansas, Davidson, Illinois, Kansas State, Kent State, Memphis, Oral Roberts, Seton Hall, Southern Miss, Texas State, Toledo, VCU, and Western Kentucky.

Louisiana competed in five events during the fall portion of its 2022-23 schedule, producing three top-5 finishes while setting school records for lowest team round and 54-hole score.

Eli Ortego, who capped off his fall season with a school-record 8-under-par 63 at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate, leads Louisiana's five-man lineup in the event after recording a 72.93 scoring average in 15 rounds of play.

Freshman Malan Potgieter is slotted into the No. 2 spot in the lineup for the Ragin' Cajuns after averaging an impressive 72.67 during the fall with Charlie Flynn (73.33) manning the third slot in the lineup.

Dylan Keating, who transferred to Louisiana after playing at Illinois, will make his debut for Louisiana and will compete in the fourth spot with Matt Weber (76.22) earning the fifth spot in the lineup.

The spring opener is the first of seven events for Louisiana prior to the Sun Belt Conference Championships in April with the Ragin' Cajuns slated to host a pair of tournaments.

The Ragin' Cajuns will compete in the Bayou City Collegiate (Feb. 20-21) before serving as a co-host with Arkansas State in the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate (Feb. 27-March 1) in Henderson, Nevada.

The Ragin' Cajuns will then host the 38th Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club on March 13-14 before traveling to compete in the All-American at the Golf Club of Houston on March 20-21.

Louisiana will compete in a pair of events to open the month of April beginning with the Mossy Oak Collegiate in West Point, Miss., on April 3-4 and the Grand Bear Match Play on April 11 in Saucier, Miss.

The Sun Belt Conference Championships are scheduled for April 23-26 in Madison, Miss., with three days of stroke play before the top four teams face off in match play.
