Ortego Makes The Cut; Moves To 10th at South Beach International Amateur

Junior seven strokes off lead heading into third round

MIAMI – Louisiana Ragin' Cajun golfer Eli Ortego posted his second consecutive round of 2-under-par to move into a tie for 10th place overall in a 204-player field after the second round of the 2023 South Beach International Amateur on Wednesday at Normandy Shores Golf Course.
 
Ortego, who made the cut in the 72-hole event featuring some of the top international amateur golfers, will tee off on Thursday at 10:11 a.m. CT from the Miami Beach Golf Club. Official results can be accessed at SouthBeachInternationalAmateur.com.
 
The junior posted five birdies in the round on the par-70, 6,805-yard course, including three straight on the front nine at holes 3, 4 and 5. Ortego added a pair of birdies on the back nine at No. 12 and 16 to finish at 4-under-137 after 36 holes and seven strokes behind Michael La Sasso of Ole Miss.
