Alford Posts Career-Low Round As Cajuns Wrap Up Fall Schedule

Louisiana posts fourth-lowest 54-hole score in school history
LAHAINA, Hawaii – Burke Alford posted a bogey-free round en route to a career-low 5-under-par 66 while the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns posted the fourth-lowest 54-hole score in school history to cap off the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational on Saturday at the Ka'anapail Golf Club.

Louisiana, which capped off the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule, fired a 4-under-280 on the final day to finish in a tie for 12th place in the 20-team field. The Ragin' Cajuns completed the three-day event with a team score of 842, the lowest since carding a school-record 830 at last year's event in Maui.

Alford, who led Louisiana with a final score of 5-under-208, posted a 2-under-32 on the back nine before recording three birdies on the front. Alford finished in a tie for 30th place in the 120-player field and eclipsed his previous 54-hole low (212) set in the fall opener at the Argent Financial Classic.

Malan Potgieter finished the event at 1-under-212 for Louisiana with Eli Ortego posting an even-par 213. Jake Marler recorded a 2-under-69 in the final round and finished at 1-over 214 for the Ragin' Cajuns with Dylan Keating finishing at 3-over-216.

East Tennessee and Oklahoma, both ranked in the top 15 by GolfWeek, finished in a tie for the team title at 810. Liberty placed third overall at 813 with North Florida and San Jose State rounding out the top five at 816.
