Fall 2022 Schedule Set for Louisiana Men’s Tennis

Cajuns Classic returning to the Hub City in late-October
LAFAYETTE – Coming off a season that saw the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team finish ranked in the final ITA poll (No. 61) and post the best start and win streak in the 2000s era, head coach Luc Godin announced the team's 2022 fall schedule on Thursday (September 8).
Louisiana returns every player from its 2021-22 squad which produced a 17-win season in the spring, including All-Sun Belt performers Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez, Oriol Fillat Gimenez, Vasil Dimitrov, Calin Postea and Karlo Kajin. The Ragin' Cajuns add newcomers Evan Edwards, William Ribero and Thomas Garbarino.
The Ragin' Cajuns open the 2022 fall slate in mid-September with the Lake Charles Hidden Dual hosted by the Lake Charles Racquet Club from Friday-Sunday, September 16-18. The following week, a trip to Hattiesburg, Miss., for the Southern Miss Invitational (Sept. 24-25) rounds out action in September.
October features the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Okla. (Oct. 1-3), the ITA Southern Regional in Tuscaloosa, Ala. (Oct. 13-18) and the return of the Cajuns Classic to the Hub City.
The Cajuns Classic, set for Friday-Sunday, Oct. 28-30 in Lafayette, will be held at Oakbourne Country Club and the City Club at River Ranch. Louisiana welcomes LSU, Nicholls, Tulane, Baylor, Georgia State, South Alabama, New Orleans, Southern Miss, Rice, Tyler JC and SMU for its home fall event.
Fall action concludes at the CCB Collegiate Invite hosted by Samford at the Country Club of Birmingham (Ala.) from November 4-6.
"We have a schedule that will allow the our team to play a lot of competitive matches this fall," Godin said. "We are especially looking forward to the opportunity of playing at our home event in front of our supporters in October.
"A new season means opportunities for the guys to develop and the team to improve," Godin added. "Simply put ... we are just excited to get started."
