Ragin' Cajuns to compete in five events in the fall; will host pair of events in the spring
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf Coach Theo Sliman unveiled his 2022-23 schedule on Thursday, which features 12 events leading up to the Sun Belt Conference Championships, including the annual Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club.
Louisiana, which returns six letterwinners from last year's squad, will compete in five events during the fall portion of the schedule, beginning with the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate beginning on Sunday in Verona, N.Y.
The Ragin' Cajuns will also compete in Louisiana Tech's Jim Rivers Intercollegiate (Sept. 11-13) the Graeme McDowell Intercollegiate (Sept. 26-27), the Tempest Intercollegiate (Oct. 9-11) and the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 28-30).
"We are very excited with the opportunities our competition schedule provides," Sliman said. "Scheduling in our business is extremely important and challenging. By season's end, we will have competed in what we anticipate to be a top-75 strength of schedule ultimately aligning us up for post-season play.
"Our administration has done a tremendous job in supporting our program and affording us this great opportunity. I look forward to working hard with our team and competing at a high level this season."
The spring portion of the schedule tees off Feb. 13-14 at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate before competing in the Bayou City Classic in Houston, Texas on Feb. 20-21.
Louisiana will then host its next two events beginning with a trip to Las Vegas to play in the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate (Feb. 28-March 1) at the Reflection Bay Golf Club before returning home to host the annual 38th annual Louisiana Classics on March 13-14 at Oakbourne Country Club.
The Ragin' Cajuns will then compete in the All-American (March 20-21) at the Houston Golf Club and Mississippi State's Mossy Oak Collegiate Championship (April 3-4) before wrapping up the regular season with match play at Southern Miss' Grand Bear event.
The Sun Belt Conference Championships are scheduled for April 23-26 with the site to be announced at a later period. The NCAA Regionals are scheduled for May 15-17 at various sites across the country with the NCAA Championships set for May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
