Women's Tennis Opens Sun Belt Tournament Against Georgia Southern

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Tennis opens play in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Thursday, April 21, when it takes on Georgia Southern at the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Georgia. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. CT.
The Ragin' Cajuns are seeking their first win at the conference championship since April 17, 2014, when it defeated WKU, 4-0, in New Orleans.
It has been a challenging season for Louisiana, but the Ragin' Cajuns enter the event with confidence behind the strong play of Carla Urchoeguia and Momoko Yoshimura. The tandem owns a combined singles record of 16-7 and went 5-8 in the No. 1 doubles spot this year.
Lucie Raquin has also been strong for the Cajuns, overcoming injury to post a 6-6 record in singles action.
Georgia Southern owns a 12-10 overall record and finished the regular season with a 4-6 record in Sun Belt play.
The two teams met in Statesboro on March 27, a match the Eagles won by a final score of 4-2. Urchoeguia and Yoshimura each won their respective singles matches to secure the points for Louisiana.
