LAFAYETTE – Riding a season-high, four-game win streak, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team returns to midweek action on Tuesday when it plays host to I-10 rival McNeese at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and can be heard in the Lafayette area on ESPN Lafayette (103.3 FM / 1420 AM), the Varsity Network and the #GeauxCajuns app.
Louisiana (18-14) returns home after an impressive five-game roadtrip which saw a midweek split at in-state opponent Louisiana Tech before a three-game Sun Belt Conference sweep at Arkansas State.

The Ragin' Cajuns have won nine of their last 12 games and enter the contest with McNeese (16-16) ranked eighth in the nation in stolen bases (68), 11th in sacrifice bunts (23) and 16th in triples (12).

Five regulars in the Louisiana lineup are hitting above .270 with Carson Roccaforte (.348-7-37) leading the team. Connor Kimple (.298-4-21), Tyler Robertson (.287-2-10), Heath Hood (.284-2-13) and Max Marusak (.274-2-9) are part of a club which has hit .273 as a team in its last 10 games and .276 during its recent roadtrip.

Louisiana will send left-hander Chipper Menard (3-1, 5.93 ERA) to the mound on Tuesday. The New Iberia native, among the Sun Belt Conference leaders in appearances (15), will make his second career start and first since facing Arkansas State on April 11, 2021.

McNeese looks to snap a three-game losing streak after falling at New Orleans last weekend in a Southland Conference matchup. The Cowboys have dropped eight of their last 13 contests since falling to Louisiana, 10-8, last month in Lake Charles.

Will Veillon, Heath Hood and Julian Brock each posted three-hit games for Louisiana to lead a 17-hit attack in the previous meeting while Kyle DeBarge's unconventional, two-out triple in the eighth inning helped staged a four-run onslaught.

Chipper Menard, the sixth of seven pitchers used by Louisiana, pitched 1.2 innings of hitless relief with four strikeouts to earn his first victory of the season as the Ragin' Cajuns built a 4-1 lead after four innings before rallying after McNeese took a 7-5 lead after six.

Kade Hunter (.363), Brad Burckel (.361) Braden Duhon (.360), and Payton Harden (.333) are the top hitters for McNeese. Kade Morris and Burckel tied for the team-lead with five home runs with Burckel recording a team-high 23 RBI.

Brett Payne (1-0, 2.79 ERA), made his first start of the season last Wednesday against Prairie View, will start on the mound for the Cowboys. Payne earned the win limiting the Panthers to one run on two hits in 4.0 innings with one walk and three strikeouts.
