Karlo Kajin Captures Sun Belt Men's Tennis Player of the Week Award

Played key role in continuing the rally at Rice, which clinched Louisiana's undefeated weekend in Houston
LAFAYETTE - Louisiana Men's Tennis sophomore Karlo Kajin has received the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week award for his efforts in helping lead the Ragin' Cajuns to an undefeated weekend in Houston from Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 5-6.
As a team, Louisiana (5-1) captured a pair of quality wins at Rice's George R. Brown Tennis Center, claiming a 4-1 decision over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and storming back for a 4-3 win over the host-Owls.
Kajin teamed up with Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez for a win at No. 1 to clinch the doubles point vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Feb. 5. The next afternoon, he grabbed a win at No. 1 singles to keep the team's comeback vs. Rice alive as Louisiana rebounded from a 3-0 deficit for the win. Kajin posted a dominant 6-1 win in the third set, handing Rice's Haoyuan Huang his first loss of the season at No. 1 singles.
Kajin, the Ragin' Cajuns leader in singles victories in 2021 with a 9-7 mark, is off to a 3-1 start at No. 1 singles in the Spring 2022 dual match season. He's combined with Sanchez Gonzalez for a 3-2 mark at No. 1 doubles,Â
Kajin and his teammates return to action from Friday-Saturday, Feb. 11-12 at Texas Tech's McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, Texas. The Ragin' Cajuns are scheduled to meet the host-Red Raiders (4-3) on Friday at 11 a.m., followed by matchup with New Mexico State (2-2) on Saturday at 12 p.m.
