LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Men's Basketball will travel to Atlanta, Ga. to close the 2021-22 regular season against the Georgia State Panthers 6 p.m. (CT) Friday at GSU Sports Arena. The finale will be available to be streamed live on ESPN+.

Entering the contest, Louisiana has won three straight games after defeating Georgia Southern 82-69 on Wednesday.

The Ragin' Cajuns currently occupy the seventh slot in the conference standings. Seedings and tip times for the 2022 Sun Belt Tournament will be finalized following the conclusion of Troy vs. Texas State at 8 p.m. (CT).

Louisiana could jump to the No. 5 seed or fall to the No. 9 seed depending on the results of Friday's conference games.

Junior forward Theo Akwuba led Louisiana past the Eagles with a season-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. The performance marked Akwuba's fifth double-double this season.

Redshirt-freshman Kobe Julien scored 18 points to aid the winning effort. Julien has totaled 15+ in six consecutive games.

Against the Panthers, the Ragin' Cajuns will look to junior guard Jalen Dalcourt who totaled eight points on Wednesday after back to back season high performances last week.

Kentrell Garnett will also look to contribute to the effort with his 3-point shooting. The second-year guard tallied 12 points against the Eagles after scoring just eight over the three prior contests.

The Panthers, who were selected to finish first in the conferences preseason poll, sit in fourth place in the current standings with an active six game win streak and are led by senior guard Corey Allen who averages 13.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

LOUISIANA LEGACY
Louisiana's 2021-22 roster features two second-generation talents in Julien and Brown. Julien's father Wayne was with the program from 1976-81 and was a member of the 1977 Southland Conference championship team.

Dion Brown lettered for the Ragin' Cajuns from 1980-84 and finished his career as one of the top scorers and rebounders in school history. Brown, a 1984 graduate of UL, earned All-Southland Conference honors in 1982 and was a two-time All-Louisiana selection.

He finished his career with 1,412 points and 926 rebounds (then second in school history) and helped then-USL to the championship of the 1982 Great Alaskan Shootout where he was named to the All-Tournament team.
