ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team ventures away from its home venue for the first time during the 2022 season when it travels to compete in the Karbach Round Rock Classic at Dell Diamond.

Louisiana (3-1) opens play in the four-team event on Friday at noon against No. 4 Stanford (3-1) before facing Indiana (0-3) on Saturday at 11 a.m. and No. 2-ranked Arkansas (2-1) at 4 p.m. on Sunday. All three games can be heard in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM 96.5 and will be streamed live by FloBaseball.com.

Louisiana opened the season taking the final two games in a three-game series against UC Irvine before earning a 10-inning, walk-off victory over in-state foe Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday.

Junior right-hander Tommy Ray (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will make his first career start in Friday's opener against the Cardinal with Stanford (3-1) countering with right-hander Alex Williams (1-0, 0.00 ERA). The meeting with Stanford will mark the first between the schools since facing off twice in the 2000 College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

In Saturday's contest against Indiana (0-3), Louisiana will face a Big 10 school for the first time since 2020 when it faced Michigan State in the Cox Diamond Invitational in Pensacola, Fla. The meeting against the Razorbacks will be a reunion for Louisiana head coach Matt Deggs, who served as hitting coach and recruiting coordinator from 2003-05 under current Arkansas skipper Dave Van Horn and was an assistant for Van Horn at Northwestern State in 1996-97.

The three-game trip to Dell Diamond is the first of eight games for Louisiana in the Lone Star State with upcoming trips to Rice (May 10-11) and Texas State (May 13-15) on the schedule.

Stanford opened the season taking two of three games from Cal State Fullerton before picking up a win over Santa Clara in its midweek opener.

Braden Montgomery (.500-2-7) has slugged both of the Cardinal home runs while driving in seven of the team's 15 RBI. Eddie Park (.462-0-0), Brock Jones (.364-0-3) and Carter Graham (.308-0-1) join Montgomery as Stanford's .300-plus hitters.

The Hoosiers opened their season dropping all three games at Clemson, being outscored 33-8. Phillip Glaser, Matthew Ellis and Tyler Doanes each homered for Indiana in the series while Bobby Whalen (.429-0-1) and Brock Tibbits (.429-0-2) led the team at the plate.

Perkins allowed four hits and struck out eight in 3.2 innings of work.

Arkansas opened its season taking two of three games against Illinois State.

The Razorbacks scored 11 runs in the three-game series with 12 of their 24 hits going for extra bases. Brady Stevens (.400-0-1) was one of five players to hit .300 or better during the opening series for the Hogs with Robert Moore (.364-1-3), Jalen Battles (.364-1-2) and Zack Gregory (.333-1-2) each hitting homers.

Ten pitchers combined to allow six runs during the weekend as Arkansas posted a 2.00 ERA and limited ISU to .230 at the plate.

On top of the 16 games already scheduled against 2021 NCAA participants, Ragin' Cajuns Baseball will face a rugged non-conference schedule featuring home-and-home contests with in-state foes Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls and Northwestern State, a trip to the Crescent City to face New Orleans, plus a three-game series at home against Houston.

Louisiana will also face Big 10 member Indiana in the Karbach Round Rock Classic and will travel to Houston to face Rice in a two-game midweek series.

Prior to the 2020 season being shut down due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Louisiana's schedule was rated as the 33rd-toughest among 301 Division I programs.
