Brown Named SBC Player of the Week for Second Time

Junior forward earns weekly honors for second time in three weeks
NEW ORLEANS – For the second time in three weeks, Louisiana junior forward Jordan Brown is the Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

In a pair of non-conference victories last week, Brown averaged a league-leading 28.5 points per game to complement 5.5 rebounds per game. Brown shot 72.4 percent (21-of-29) from the field during the week. The Ragin' Cajuns defeated Louisiana Christian and McNeese to improve their record to 10-1.

Brown scored a career-high 37 points in a 98-63 win against Louisiana Christian before tallying a team-high 20 points with five boards in a 78-70 road victory at McNeese.

Against the Cowboys, Brown finished 5-for-8 from the floor and 9-for-12 from the free-throw line, converting a three-point play with 6:45 remaining to give Louisiana a 63-59 advantage. In the first half of that game, Brown capped a 13-0 run for the Ragin' Cajuns' with a three-pointer for a 36-31 lead.

Brown finished 16-for-21 from the floor against LCU and made his first five shots to accumulate 21 points in the first half. He also tied for the team high in rebounds with six.

Louisiana (10-1), off to its best start to a season since the 1990-91 campaign, returns to action on Wednesday (Dec. 21) when it visits No. 7-ranked Texas (9-1) at the Moody Center.
