Louisiana Travels To Metroplex For Hardwood Battle at SMU

Third overall meeting between the schools; first since 1986-87 season
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball team makes its first true road test of the 2022-23 season when it heads to the Lone Star State to face American Athletic Conference member SMU on Tuesday at Moody Coliseum.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM 96.5 and worldwide on the Varsity Network. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live stats available at CajunStats.com.
Coming off a come-from-behind 94-88 victory over in-state rival Louisiana Tech last Thursday, Louisiana (4-0) equaled its best start since the 1989-90 season when the Ragin' Cajuns reeled off eight straight wins to open the season.
Terence Lewis II scored 23 points and grabbed a career-high tying 12 rebounds to lead five players in double figures and helping Louisiana to its sixth win over its in-state rival in the last 10 meetings.
Jordan Brown (18.8), Lewis (16.0), Greg Williams, Jr. (11.3) and Kentrell Garnett (10.0) are the top scorers for Louisiana with Lewis pulling down a team-best 10.5 rebounds per game. Themus Fulks (5.5 assists), Michael Thomas (3.0) and Williams (2.3) are tops on the team in assists for Louisiana with Brown blocking a team-high 1.3 shots per game.
SMU (2-2), under first-year coach Rob Lanier, defeated Evansville in its last game, 55-47, to snap a two-game losing streak. The Mustangs opened the season with a 77-60 win over Division I newcomer Texas A&M-Commerce before dropping games to Dayton and New Mexico.
