Top-ranked player in state and two-time singles champion to join Louisiana in 2023-24

LAFAYETTE - Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis head coach Luc Godin announced on Thursday (Nov. 10, 2022) the signing of Mason Landreth, a highly successful tennis athlete from Lafayette, to a National Letter of Intent to join the program beginning with the 2023-24 academic year.

Landreth is a two-time singles state champion who is set to conclude his prep career at St. Thomas More Catholic High School this spring competing for the opportunity to claim a third consecutive LHSAA Division I singles title.

Coming off an undefeated run to his 2022 singles title, Landreth is currently the No. 1-ranked junior player in the state of Louisiana. His highest national junior ranking is No. 38.
Landreth was the recipient of the Gus Rivera Junior Achievement Award for 2023, awarded by the UTSA of Southern Louisiana, which recognizes a Louisiana junior ranked player who has outstanding recognition of their tennis performance and sportsmanship.

"Mason is a rising junior tennis player in the area," Godin mentioned. "Our coaching staff is extremely excited that he chose the University of Louisiana to continue his development.

"He has demonstrated that he has the ability to compete at both the regional and national levels," Godin added. "We expect him to have an immediate impact on our program as a freshman."

His older brother, Grant, is a current member of the Louisiana Men's Tennis program.

Entering their second season under the leadership of Godin, the Ragin' Cajuns (17-6, 4-2 Sun Belt in 2022) are coming off a 17-win campaign in the Spring 2022 dual match season which resulted in the team being ranked in the ITA Collegiate Tennis National Team Rankings (at No. 61) – one of only two teams in the state of Louisiana ranked and the highest in the Sun Belt Conference. That success landed Louisiana an appearance in the prestigious ITA Kickoff Weekend in January 2023.
