Potgieter, Ortego post career-low rounds as Louisiana in four-way tie for eighth
LAHAINA, Hawaii – Malan Potgieter and Eli Ortego each posted career-low rounds and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team vaulted four spots up the leaderboard after the second day of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational on Saturday at Royal Ka'anapali Golf Club.

Charlie Flynn posted a 1-under-par 70 as Louisiana posted a team score of 5-under-279 to move into a four-way tie for eighth-place at 5-under-563 after 36 holes.

The final round of the 54-hole event begins on Sunday with an 1 p.m. CDT shotgun start. Louisiana will be paired with Boise State, Colorado and UC Irvine. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com.

Led by a stretch of five straight birdies on the front nine, Potgieter (73-67-140) recorded a career-low 4-under-par 67 to move up 54 spots on the leaderboard – the biggest jump in the 123-player field – to a tie for 24th place. The freshman recorded seven birdies in the round with six coming on the front nine where he finished at 5-under-32.

Ortego (73-68-141) played a bogey-free round on the back nine, finishing at 1-under-33 before sinking three birdies on the front nine to tie his career-low round at 3-under-68. Flynn (72-70-142) shot an identical 1-under-33 on the back nine before posting birdies on his final two holes to finish below par for the round.

Hudson Dubinski (68-74-142) recorded a 3-over-par 74 in his second round of the season for Louisiana with Jake Marler (71-75-146) finishing at 4-over-75.

No. 11-ranked Oklahoma moved into the team lead after the second round after firing a score of 278 and finishing at 546 after 36 holes. No. 45 East Tennessee finished four shots back at 552 in the 20-team field with first-day leader Clemson (553), No. 49 Liberty (555) and defending champion Kansas (556) rounding out the top five.

North Florida, ranked No. 29 nationally, was sixth in the field at 557 followed by No. 40 Ole Miss at 560. Louisiana was tied for eighth with No. 20 Georgia, Boise State and Colorado with UC Irvine two strokes back at 565.
