Potgieter posts top-5 finish; Ortego, Marler with even-parr 72's in final round
GLADEWATER, Texas – Eli Ortego and Jake Marler each posted rounds of even-par 72 while Malan Potgieter posted his first career top-5 finish to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team during the final day of the Tempest Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Tempest Golf Club.

Louisiana moved up one spot to fourth in the final standings in the 11-team field after shooting a team score of 3-over-291 on the day to finish at 874 for the 54-hole event. Host Texas State claimed the team title after shooting a 281 to finish at 857 with South Alabama (861) finishing second and second-day leader Rice (868) in third.

Ortego posted his third straight even-par round for Louisiana to finish 11th overall at 216. The sophomore birdied three straight holes beginning at No. 9. Marler recorded his second straight round of even-par to finish tied for 22nd at 220.

Potgieter, who finished ninth at the Graeme McDowell Intercollegiate, fired a 1-over-par 73 for Louisiana and finished tied for third at 214. The freshman recovered from a 4-over-40 on the front nine to post an eagle after making the turn at No. 10 before recording a birdie at No. 15.

Burke Alford posted his best career finish after finishing tied for 29th at 224. The sophomore fired a 2-over-74 which included three birdies on the front nine. Charlie Flynn made the turn at even-par 36 in the final round for Louisiana before finishing the 54-hole event at 232.

Freshman Maximilian Feistmantl, completing his first collegiate event, recorded a 5-over 77 to finish at 231 overall.

Louisiana will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule Oct. 28-30 at the 21-team Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational in Lahaina, Maui.
