Women’s Tennis Posts Strong Start to 2021-22 Campaign

Ragin’ Cajuns tally 16 victories at Stetson Invite
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Tennis opened its fall slate this past weekend, securing wins in five doubles matches and victories in 11 singles matches at the Stetson Invite in DeLand, Florida.
The Ragin' Cajuns opened the event with three doubles victories, highlighted by a 6-2 win by Lucie Raquin and Carla Urchoeguia over Georgia Southern's Hannah Daniel and Paula Hijos. The pairings of Lana Brezanin and Catarina Zheng (7-6 (8)) and AK Harvey and Nikol Dobrilova (6-1) also picked doubles wins.
Newcomer Tanisha Kashyap earned a Flight B win in singles play on, defeating Georgia Southern's Hijos, 6-1, 6-0. Urchoeguia, Yoshimura, Dobrilova, Harvey and Zheng all added singles wins as well.
Sunday got started with Raquin and Urchoeguia defeating Chattanooga's Callie Billman and Jessie Young, 6-7 (9), and Angel Santiago and Brezanin topping the Mocs' Jada Young and Wilma Bergqvist, 6-2.
Urchoeguia and Dobrilova continued the weekend with 6-2, 6-4 wins over opponents from Chattanooga, while Harvey took down Lily Holmes of Chattanooga, 6-2, 6-2.
Louisiana is set to host the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational from Oct. 1-2 at Cajun Courts. More information on the event will be announced soon.
